<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas diffusion electrode with a catalyst layer in order to manufacture a catalyst layer-electrolyte membrane assembly having superior hydrophilicity and water-repellency in combination. <P>SOLUTION: As for the gas diffusion electrode with the catalyst layer, a permeation layer of gas and liquid is formed on one face of the gas diffusion electrode and a platinum containing catalyst layer is formed on the permeation layer. The permeation layer has a hydrophilic region and a water-repellent region. By means in which the gas diffusion electrode with the catalyst layer is arranged on both faces of a solid electrolyte membrane, and by pressurization, the catalyst layer-electrolyte membrane assembly having both superior hydrophilicity and water-repellency can be manufactured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
