PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric rotating machine for suppressing demagnetization caused by weight reduction of the electric rotating machine. SOLUTION: A rotor 8 is disposed so as to be coaxially rotatable with a stator 2, and a shaft 10 is fixed onto the axis of a rotor iron core 9. Magnet slots 11, each constituting one pole, are disposed in a V-shape at the peripheral part of the rotor iron core 9, and permanent magnets 12 are embedded into the magnets slots 11. For the one pole, two permanent magnets 12 having the same polarity are embedded in the V-shape, and sixteen permanent magnets 12 are embedded in total. In a magnet shape of each embedded permanent magnet 12, the thickness of the permanent magnet edge part on the inner diameter side of the rotor iron core 9, which becomes the center of the V-shape, gradually increases toward the outer diameter side of the rotor iron core 9, which becomes right and left edge portions of the V-shape.
