PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of processing a glass substrate for a magnetic disk which achieves stable grinding to ensure a low-cost, efficient and high-quality finish of the edge face of the glass substrate for the magnetic disk. SOLUTION: The method of processing the glass substrate for the magnetic disk includes processing the edge face of the glass substrate through grinding by bringing a grinding wheel into contact with the edge face of the glass substrate, while supplying a grinding fluid to the edge face portions of the disk-shaped glass substrate. The grinding wheel has a groove shape on a face contacting with the edge face of the glass substrate. The groove shape is formed to permit simultaneous grinding of both of a sidewall face of the edge face of the glass substrate and a chambered face between a main surface of the glass substrate and the sidewall face. Both of the sidewall face of the edge face of the glass substrate and the chambered face are subjected to grinding by bringing the edge face of the glass substrate and the grinding wheel into contact with each other, and relatively moving the glass substrate and the grinding wheel so that the locus of the grinding wheel abutting against the edge face of the glass substrate does not become constant.
