PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the length of a holding tray 55, and to materialize downsizing of a recording device body 2. SOLUTION: The recording device sets a hard recording material Q in a setting portion 71 of the holding tray 55, and moves the holding tray 55 by a conveying means 34 to execute recording on the hard recording material Q in a recording execution area 51. A chip end edge 80 of the holding tray 55 is retracted from an outer edge of the set hard recording material Q. The holding tray 55 is composed of a length enabling the holding tray 55 to carry out conveying from a recording start position 60 to recording finish position 61 with respect to the hard recording material Q by receiving conveying force from the conveying means 34.
