<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a body periphery measuring instrument which can stably and accurately perform measurement by performing automatic wrapping of a strip member. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The body periphery measuring instrument 10 includes a support 12 rising from a base 11, a standing position holding means 13 for regulating the standing position of a subject H to be measured by being supported by the support 12, the strip member 15 supported deliverably from the standing position holding means 13, an arm 16 rotatably supported on the standing position holding means 13 in a state of supporting the leading end of the strip member 15, and a rotary encoder 17 for detecting the delivered length of the strip member 15. In measuring the body periphery of the subject H to be measured, the subject H to be measured stands on the base 11 with the arm 16 opened and the body periphery is computed on the basis of the detection data of a rotary encoder 17 when the strip member 15 is delivered by returning the arm 16 to a blocking position.
