<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal insulation structure of an exterior wall allowing a worker to use an external heat insulating material in construction simply, preventing the occurrence of heat bridge, and capable of reducing thickness of the exterior wall. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this thermal insulation structure of the exterior wall, an intercolumnar heat insulating material 3 to be fitted in an inner face of a face plate 1 between columns 2 is attached to the inner face, and an upper horizontal sash 4 is attached to an upper part of an outer face of the face plate 1 to constitute a heat insulating panel body 5. The intercolumnar heat insulating material 3 of the heat insulating panel body 5 is fitted into a part surrounded by a sill 6 of a building, a beam 7, and adjacent columns 2, and the face plate 1 is fixed to at least one or a plurality of members selected from among the sill 6, the beam 7, and the columns 2 by using a fastener 8. A lower horizontal sash 9 is fixed on an outer face of the sill 6. The external heat insulating material 10 is fitted in between the lower horizontal sash 9 and the upper horizontal sash 4 and is overlapped on the outer face of the face plate 1. A lower end part of the external heat insulating material 10 is put on the lower horizontal sash 9, and an upper end part of the external heat insulating material 10 is held on a lower face of the upper horizontal sash 4.
