<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein when an endless belt formed from a resin with a Young's modulus of 2,000 [MPa] or greater, in order to improve the durability of the belt, is used as a belt unit for an image forming apparatus, this durability is not sufficient for obtaining prolonging the lifetime of the belt unit. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The belt unit includes: an endless belt 22; a drive roller 20 and a tension roller 21, which extend the endless belt 22 around them to run the belt; and a cleaning blade 24, which removes depositions sticking to the surface of the endless belt 22, and if the Young's modulus of the endless belt 22 is Y[GPa], the Young's modulus is set so as to satisfy 3.5≤Y≤7.0.
