The system has inductive power generation units e.g. power generator and synchronous generator (1), for generating electric current by movement of movable parts i.e. drive parts such as steel cables (2) and pulleys (3), of a crane. The power generation units comprise magnets and induction coils. The movable parts are moved in an area between the power generation units, where the movable parts adjust position of the crane. The movable parts are partially manufactured from ferromagnetic material or exhibit ferromagnetic material. An independent claim is also included for a method for supplying power to a power consumer.
