PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method (100) of establishing a wheel space temperature alarm in a turbomachine (10). SOLUTION: The method (100) includes a step (104) of calculating an expected wheel space temperature based on operating conditions, a step (106) of measuring an actual wheel space temperature, and a step (200) of signaling an over temperature condition if the actual wheel space temperature exceeds the expected wheel space temperature.
