<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid scratching of the disc surface of an optical disc when detecting an overcurrent in an actuator of an optical pickup in an optical disc apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The optical disc apparatus comprises an overcurrent detector which detects the overcurrent of the actuator and instructs a disc motor to stop driving and to exert brake force on the basis of a signal of the result of the detection. When the overcurrent detector detects the overcurrent of the actuator during a recording operation or a reproduction operation under a focus control operation, the objective lens is retracted from the disc surface by turning off the control of the focus by controlling the actuator while causing the disc motor to exert the braking force until the rotational speed of the optical disc becomes equal to or smaller than a predetermined value. When the rotational speed of the optical disc is equal to or smaller than the predetermined value, the objective lens is released from the retracted state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
