<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head manufacturing method which manufactures a magnetic head highly accurately, a magnetic head to be manufactured, and an information storage device for recording information in a magnetic recording medium using the magnetic head. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The magnetic head manufacturing method includes: forming a projection 244 made of a magnetic material, serving as a main magnetic pole 223 and having a rectangular cross section on a plane where the main magnetic pole 223 is formed (step S11 to step S13), forming a main magnetic pole width protecting body 228 made of a nonmagnetic material whose milling rate by ion milling is lower than the above magnetic material and protecting the part from ion milling by covering the upper part of the projection 244 (step S14 to step S19), and cutting the projection 244 obliquely by ion milling to obtain the main magnetic pole 223 (step S20).
