<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas meter capable of capturing changes in the quantity of flow of gas, even with respect to gradual change in the quantity of flow of gas gradually changes. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The gas meter registers the total quantity of flow of gas used by a customer and includes a flow-measuring part for counting a flow signal generated for each prescribed quantity of flow of gas within a prescribed time and computing the quantity of flow of gas in units of time, on the basis of a count value and the prescribed time. Changes in the total quantity of flow of gas used are detected, on the basis of difference values among the quantities of flow of gas for every prescribed time. After the changes in the quantity of flow are detected, registration is updated with the quantity of flow of gas at the time, when the amount of change in the quantity of flow of gas lies within a prescribed range as the total quantity of flow of gas used.
