PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a tracking target from getting out of a segmented image. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes a tracking processing section, a segmentation processing section, and a tracking reliability evaluation section. The tracking processing section tracks a tracking target on a photographed image stream by sequentially detecting a position of the tracking target on the photographed image stream on the basis of an output signal from an imaging device. The segmentation processing section sets a segmentation region, including the tracking target, within a photographed image and extracts an image inside the segmentation region as a segmented image. The tracking reliability evaluation section evaluates reliability of tracking due to the tracking processing section on the basis of an output signal from the imaging device. The segmentation processing section makes a size of the segmentation region relatively small when the evaluated tracking reliability is relatively high, or makes the size of the segmentation region relatively large when the evaluated tracking reliability is relatively low.
