PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger excellent in odor resistance while keeping its hydrophilicity high. SOLUTION: A paint film formed from a paint composition containing an organic solvent, a resin, and one or two kinds or more of organic silicon compounds represented by the general formula (I) covers at least one of the heat transfer pipe and the fin of the heat exchanger. In the formula, (n) is an integer of 1-20; R<SP>1</SP>s are all different or at least two of R<SP>1</SP>s are the same and each represent a 1-1,000C monovalent organic group; the organic group may contain at least one kind of atom selected from oxygen atom, nitrogen atom and silicon atom; and some or all of the hydrogen atoms in the organic group may be substituted with fluorine atoms or both fluorine atoms and chlorine atoms.
