The present invention relates to a transfection solution for producing transfection complexes, containing at least one buffer, preferably an HEPES buffer, and at least one transfection reagent that comprises a cationic lipid. According to the invention, no culture medium for producing the transfection solution is used, whereby the long-term stability of the transfection solution is improved so that it can be used over a longer time period with the substance to be transfected for the production of transfection complexes.
