<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which maintains its high capacity, and at the same time, improves the safety, at the time of internal short-circuit. <P>SOLUTION: In a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery containing a group of electrodes having a cathode plate and an anode plate, which are stacked or wound via a porous insulating layer, and a nonaqueous electrolyte, a belt-like current collector having strong anisotropy is used for at least one of the cathode plate and the anode plate.
