PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel material lifting device capable of improving attraction efficiency of an attraction member by increasing a contact area of a magnetic pole surface of the attraction member such as an electromagnet with a steel surface upon lifting a long steel material. SOLUTION: This steel material lifting device is equipped with the attraction member having a lifting face for lifting a steel material by force, a supporting part for supporting the attraction member from above, and a rotating mechanism for connecting the attraction member to the supporting part and rotating the lifting face so that the lifting face follows an inclination portion of the steel material inclined by its own weight with respect to the lifting face by a portion of the steel material abutting on the lifting face and the steel material being lifted upon lifting the steel material by magnetic force.
