PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a packaging container for a flat rectangular battery capable of efficiently preparing an inner member while suppressing movement of the flat rectangular battery in the right and left directions caused by impact or the like during transportation. SOLUTION: The packaging container consists of the inner member 2 for storing a group 1A of the batteries in which the flat rectangular batteries 1 are arranged back and forth, and an outer box 3 for storing the inner member 2 inward. The inner member 2 has a bottom wall 25 on which the group 1A of the batteries is placed, and cushioning materials 37 and 38 formed on the front and back of the inner member 2. The outer box 3 has a box body 6 consisting of front, back, right and left sidewalls 9, 10, 11 and 12 and a bottom wall 13, and a lid 8 for opening and closing the upper face of the opening of the box body 6. The front, back, right and left sidewalls 9, 10, 11 and 12 of the outer box 3 are connected by using adhesive pieces 15 and 16. The right and left side faces of the group 1A of the batteries face the right and left sidewalls 11 and 12 of the box body 6 of the outer box 3 through the adhesive pieces 15 and 16.
