<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp device and a lighting fixture, capable of preventing shortening of lifetime and deterioration of optical characteristics while improving its startability in a dark place. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The electrodeless discharge lamp device includes: an electrodeless discharge lamp 1 provided with an airtight container 1b made of glass, enclosing a discharge gas and mercury therein, having a recessed portion 4, and having a phosphor film 3 inside, and provided with a long afterglow phosphorescent material layer (dark start auxiliary material) 13 arranged within the airtight container 1b; an induction coil 10 generating a high frequency electromagnetic field within the airtight container 1b; and a lighting circuit (not shown in drawings) feeding high frequency current to the induction coil 10. The long afterglow phosphorescent material layer 13 is arranged at a position remote to an opening portion side of the recessed portion 4 from the induction coil 10 arranged inside of the recessed portion 4, and an auxiliary coil (auxiliary discharge generation portion) 17 generating micro discharge is provided near within the airtight container 1b.
