PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mode-locked semiconductor laser apparatus that is compact, wide in wavelength variable width of an optical pulse train to be generated and output, and is capable of strictly controlling a center wavelength. SOLUTION: The MLLD apparatus is constituted by being equipped with an MLLD 10, an optical branching device 18, and a longitudinal mode filtering element 20. An optical pulse train 13 output from the end face 44F of the MLLD is input to the optical branching device 18 through a coupling lens 12, and an optical isolator 14, and is branched into a first output light 18-1 as an optical pulse train to be taken out outside, and a second output light 18-2 which is a control light for controlling the mode synchronization performance of the MLLD. The second output light is converted into a monochrome continuous wave light 21 by the longitudinal mode filtering element 20, is input to an optical amplifier 22 and a polarization plane controller 24, and then input to an MLLD end face 44R after its strength and polarization plane direction are adjusted.
