PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring apparatus which enables a practical current value transmission function of remote monitoring using mail. SOLUTION: The monitoring apparatus 302: comprises a connector for performing communication over a network 200, a memory, a CPU and a terminal for inputting a digital signal or an analog signal of a facility 303 to be monitored; includes a means for detecting occurrence of a fault in the facility 303 to be monitored and a means for executing and stopping transmission of mail; and is configured to connect to a mail server 101 via the network 200 after the facility 303 to be monitored fails, to transmit mail with a file recording a current value of the digital signal or the analog signal or trend data and to stop mail transmission after the lapse of a predetermined time. The monitoring apparatus 302 is provided with a power failure detecting means and a power supply backup device for operating the monitoring apparatus during power failure. When a warning signal of the facility to be monitored is caused by the power failure, mail is transmitted with a file recording the current value or the trend data only once.
