<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication apparatus which is resistant to interference and is excellent in communication quality. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The master unit and the slave unit of a cordless telephone selectively switches channels of a frequency band from among a plurality of frequency bands to perform communication by time division multiplex. The communication measures reception electric field intensity of each of all the channels in the plurality of frequency bands, stores it as reception electric field intensity data while dividing it for each frequency band, and selects first and second channel slots for communication from among channel slots regarded as excellent on the basis of the reception electric field intensity data, so that a channel slot having good quality and resistant to the interference is selected.
