The inflater consists of a syringe (2) with a plunger (6) having an external thread (28) and a retaining mechanism to fasten the plunger in the required position. The retaining mechanism comprises two half nuts (32A, 32B) that are engaged with or separated from the thread by thrust fingers (70A, 70B) and elastic strips (60A, 60B). The retaining mechanism is actuated by rocking switches (66A, 66B) to fix the position of the plunger once the required balloon pressure has been achieved by fluid injected by the syringe, or to release the pressure on completion of the operation. |
