<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element capable of improving durability without using a special material. <P>SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element is provided with an action electrode 10 in which dyes 13 are carried on a metal oxide semiconductor layer 12 and a counter electrode 20 having a conductive layer 22 as well as an electrolyte containing layer 30 of semisolid state interposed between these. The electrolyte containing layer 30 is constructed by containing an electrolytic solution containing a solid electrolyte salt dissolved in an organic solvent as well as particles.
