<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a burden on a patient during a bronchial examination by an ultrasonic endoscope apparatus with a balloon. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The ultrasonic endoscope apparatus 1 with the balloon for examining a region to be examined by ultrasound by inserting the balloon 6 filled with a liquid between an ultrasonic probe provided at the distal end of the insertion portion 3 of an endoscope and the region to be examined is equipped with a timer means 25 for measuring duration from the time when the balloon 6 is inflated with a liquid to perform the examination by ultrasonic waves and a control means 26 which determines whether the duration measured by the timer means 25 reaches the time required or not and deflates the balloon 6 by discharging the liquid from the balloon 6 when determining that duration reaches the required time.
