<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably control recording on and reproducing from a recording medium according to a temperature environment by executing a temperature acquisition cycle at suitable timing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In addition to control which varies a temperature acquisition cycle in response to a temperature condition, in case of under recording of a moving image, timing is so controlled as to transmit a temperature acquisition command after processing a flash cache command. In case of under reproducing of a moving image, by transmitting the temperature acquisition command only in response to an instruction from a moving image reproduction application, the temperature is obtained from the recording medium at intervals of a certain degree while reducing the number of times of transmitting the temperature acquisition command.
