The present invention relates to nanocomposite materials based on a polymeric or plastic matrix and a laminar silicate (clay) having improved mechanical, thermal and gas-barrier properties, among others, and not requiring clay-matrix compatibilising agents. Furthermore the present invention relates to three procedures for the obtainment of these materials and use thereof for applications such as in packaging products of interest to the food sector, among others, and for applications in other sectors.
