<p>The storage device has multiple storage floors arranged on top of each other with level storage surfaces. The storage floors are vertically moved by a drive, such that the vertical distance between two adjacent floors is increased in vertical direction to create an access space over the storage surfaces, partially or fully occupied by the bulk goods of the lower adjacent storage floor. An operating unit is provided, which is initially positioned outside the storage floor adjacent to the access space.
