<p>Hypocholesterolaemic-hypolipaemic bis-(phenoxy)-acetic acids and derivatives. M3A. are new compds. of formula including their salts, acid addition salts and quaternary ammonium salts. (R=H, monoalcohol residue; R1 and R2 = H, Cl. Br, I, phenyl optionally p-substituted by Cl, Br, I; CF3, R3, R4 = H, Cl, Br, I; provided that both R1 and R2 are not H, when R1 and R2 = Cl, R3 and R4 = H then R is not H alkyl (C1-C6); when R1 and R2 are both CF3, phenyl, p-Cl-phenyl, p-Br-phenyl and R3, R4 = H, R is not H, alkyl (C1-C6) or the group. where n" = 0 to 4; n"' = 4 or 5 RV2 = alkyl (C1-C4); when R1, R2=H, CF3, phenyl and at least one is not H, R is not H or saturated alkyl (C1-C6). - A preferred cpd. is the ester of 1-hydroxypiperidine and p-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-(p-chlorophenoxy) acetic acid. - Used as hypocholesterolaemic-hypolipaemic agents at a daily dose of 50-200 mg in divided doses or delayed release preparations. Preferred formulations are tablets and capsules containing 4-250 mg of I.</p> |
