PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for downloading software program for cable broadcasting are provided to download software program at a desirable point of time. CONSTITUTION: A tuner receives software download code information, and a user interface unit(640) displays information or commands. The user interface receives the information and command from a user, and a control unit(610) judges based on the download code information whether or not the software downloading operation is an illegal operation. When the downloading is legal, the control unit determines a software download mode based on previously-set preset host mode information. |
