PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for using an ion exchange resin which is stably usable over a long period by suppressing deterioration and deactivation of a catalyst caused by an acidic substance isolated from the resin in a chemical reaction using the acidic ion exchange resin as the catalyst and a method for producing the alcohol by hydrating an olefin in the presence of the acidic ion exchange resin catalyst to which the use method is applied. SOLUTION: This method for using the ion exchange resin comprises combinedly using (A) an acidic ion exchange resin having a protonic acid type residue with (B) an ion exchange resin having a protonic acid alkali metal salt type residue in the chemical reaction using the acidic ion exchange resin as the catalyst. |
