Provided is a handrail device on the car of an elevator in which when a worker for the elevator performs an operation while riding on the car, the worker is not required to replacing a safety hook and the efficiency of the operation can be enhanced. A handrail frame is so installed upright on the car as to surround it on the four sides, and an endless rail is installed on the handrail frame. A guide having a safety hook connection means is so provided on the rail as to be movable along the rail. In performing an operation on the car, the worker moves onto the car, connects his safety hook to the safety hook connection means to keep safety, and performs the inspection or other operations for the devices in the hoistway.
