[Also in Divisions F1 and G3] A speed governor comprises a rotary inertia member 104 whose centre of gravity is eccentric to the axis of rotation A, spring rods 103 biasing the inertia member 104 against an abutment against the action of centrifugal force, and a discharge member 112 for control fluid, the member 104 having an axially facing annular surface 105 which co-operates with discharge apertures 114 to control the outflow of control fluid, the arrangement being such that in operation at speeds of rotation up to a critical speed the annular surface 105 restricts the outflow and when the critical speed is exceeded the inertia member 104 moves transversely to the axis A to expose further the apertures 114.</p> |
