A nitrocellulose lacquer comprises a mixture of 10 parts by weight of a composition containing 20 per cent low viscosity nitrocellulose, 10 per cent oily phthalic acid resin, 3 per cent dibutyl phthalate, 9 per cent castor oil, 10 per cent butanol, 20 per cent butyl acetate, 8 per cent hexalin acetate, and 20 per cent toluene, with 30 parts by weight of a composition containing 6 per cent formamide, 25 per cent butyl acetate, 25 per cent toluene, 25 per cent ethyl acetate, and 19 per cent alcohol.
