Method and apparatus for packaging a liquid food product

The method involves injecting a liquid food component into a recess in a preform so as to promote expansion of the preform inside a mold, where the mold defines the shape of a thermoplastic container. The volume of the liquid food component introduced during injection is equal to a predetermined volume. A fraction of the volume of the introduced liquid food component is aspirated using a suction pump (150), until the volume of component remaining in the container is equal to the predetermined volume. A part of the aspirated liquid food is circulated. An independent claim is also included for a device for packaging a predetermined volume of liquid food in a thermoplastic container.
