Cross-linked separator - for paper-lined primary cells with non-liquefying gel film

Separator is produced by treating aq. suspension of flour or starch and alkali with 0.5-7% POCl3 and alkali, w.r.t. glucose, within 1 hr. keeping pH>10, and then with ZnCl2. NH4Cl when reaction is complete. Gel film on the separator does not liquefy during discharge. These elements give higher storage capacity and can be produced simply and quickly.
