A fuel cell system includes a stack body that is formed by stacking a membra ne- electrode assembly and a separator. The membrane-electrode assembly includes electrolyte layer and electrode layers one of which is provided on one side of the electrolyte layer and the other of which is provided on the other side o f the electrolyte layer. Ions having the ability to decompose hydrogen peroxid e are supplied to the membrane-electrode assembly.
