METHOD FOR EARLY DETECTION OF PATHOLOGIC REACTIONS OF BRAINSTEM IN COURSE OF RESECTING TUMOR OF POSTERIOR CRANIAL FOSSA IN CHILDREN

A method for the early detection of the pathologic reactions of the brainstem in the course of resecting the tumor of the posterior cranial fossa in the children comprises measuring the heart rate, the arterial blood pressure, and recording ECG. In addition, the partial pressure of carbon dioxide in the expired air, the content of glucose in blood and liquor are assayed. The detection of tachyarrhytmia with the concomitant increase of the partial pressure of carbon dioxide in the expired air up to Hg and higher with the accompanying variations of glycemia and glucose in liquor exceeding more than 15% of the initial level is suggestive of the pathologic reactions of the brainstem.
