A method for reducing the atherogenic risk in the patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 with accompanying metabolic syndrome provides for the multicomponent therapy supplemented with the adapted mediterranean diet comprising the mixture of the unrefined oil (olive and sunflower at a 1:1 ratio) with the cereals, the fish, the legumes, the fermented milk products, the vegetables, and the fruits usual for the native inhabitants. The amounts of the various products comprising the ration should be sufficient for providing 1000 kCal due to carbohydrates, 600 kCal due to lipids, and 400 kCal due to proteins. |
