The bonnet (9) has a central part (11) rigidly fixed on an engine block of a motor vehicle. A pivoting connection unit (15) connects a U-shaped peripheral part (13) on a body shell of the vehicle. The peripheral part is movable around the connection unit between a releasing position, which authorizes access to a peripheral zone (25) of an engine compartment of the vehicle, and a closing position preventing the access to the peripheral zone. An outer peripheral skin of the peripheral part and an outer central skin of the central part are made of thermoplastic materials.
