The device (10) has a magnetocaloric element (13) whose circular annulus comprises magnetocaloric material. The element is adjacent to a magnetic arrangement and placed in an air gap. The annulus is positioned coaxially around a rotor (12), and a set of electric coils (14) is spaced around the rotor. The coils have windings carried by armatures (16). The air gap is formed by a space delimited between the arrangement and the armatures and a space delimited between the arrangement and an external cylindrical casing (11). A thermal flux generating unit is housed in the casing.
