<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a readily constructed and inexpensive imaging device achieving operation check when replacing a component and clearing work of the counter value of the replacement component in the image forming device by a simple operation. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming device fitted with a replaceable roller component for feeding or conveying recording paper includes a life counter counting the frequency in use of the roller component for feeding or conveying paper and detecting replacement timing, and a recording paper operation detection section for detecting a jam when the recording paper is fed or conveyed. After a determination reference value for jam detection for feeding or conveying paper in the recording paper operation detection section is changed to a new component determination reference value of the roller component for feeding or conveying paper (step S602), a new component determination section determines whether or not the roller component for feeding or conveying the paper is new.
