<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a correct amount of curl, taking into account of various environmental conditions and moisture of various transfer sheets of paper. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The transfer paper curl determination method is for determining a curl in transfer paper caused by expansion and contraction resulting from a change in moisture of transfer paper heated and compressed in order to melt and fix a toner image formed on an image carrier by the image forming operation of an image forming apparatus and transferred to the transfer paper. In the method, a curl in the transfer paper is estimated (S4) according to a difference between the measurement value (S1) of the atmospheric humidity of space where the transfer paper is placed and the measurement value (S2) of the humidity of the transfer paper surface detected by a humidity detection sensor installed close and opposite to the transfer paper surface.
