Establishing a connection from the receiver side by making a selection from among multiple transmittersis cumbersome because of operations such as as entering an ID, and an incorrect connection may be made due to an input mistake. Communication identifiers assigned to respective image transmitters and channels set at the time of transmission are utilized, and the image data to which the communication identifiers have been assigned are transmitted using the preset channels. Upon receiving multiple sets of image data, the receiver correlates and stores the communication identifiers and the channels of the received image data. In the wireless communication system comprising a receiver and image transmitters, thumbnails obtained from the respective sets of image data are displayed on a display screen, an image is selected from among them, and the image transmitter transmitting the image is specified and connected to exclusively based on the communication identifier and the channel correlated to the selected image, and the subsequent pickup image is expanded in time series and displayed on a display part.
