The method involves transmitting movement data of a motor vehicle (FZ) from a vehicle-lateral terminal of a road user guiding the motor vehicle to a road-lateral detection device. A determination is made whether a conflict situation occurs based on the transmitted movement data. A warning information is displayed by the road-lateral detection device if the conflict situation is detected, where the displayed warning information is received from a mobile terminal e.g. personal digital assistant, that is carried by a road user without vehicle e.g. pedestrian (FG) or cyclist (RF). An independent claim is also included for a system for warning road users from conflict situations in an area of a junction of a road system during road traffic.
