<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably prevent a detection failure due to soil on a detecting means when an image forming unit is not attached, and malfunction of a control substrate due to static electricity brought about by a user. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes an apparatus body 2, and a photoreceptor unit 21 configured detachably from the apparatus body 2 and used to form an image in cooperation with the apparatus body 2. The apparatus body 2 includes a detection unit 66 that comes into contact with the photoreceptor unit 21 and detects that the photoreceptor unit 21 is attached.
