<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL display with which duty driving to perform luminance adjustment is made possible even when the number of constitution elements of a pixel circuit is little. <P>SOLUTION: A switching transistor 11b is made electrically conductive according to a control signal supplied from a gate signal line 17, samples the signal potential supplied from a source signal line 18 and holds the signal potential in a capacitor 19. A cancellation voltage Vdd_L and a driving voltage Vdd_H are switched and applied to the source terminal of a driving transistor 11a by control of a circuit 23 for power supply to cause a driving transistor 11a to perform a cancellation operation.
