<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal panel where light leakage from an oblique direction can be fully reduced, even in a black display in an IPS mode liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal panel includes: a first polarizing plate; a second polarizing plate, having the absorption axis substantially orthogonal to that of the first polarizing plate; a retardation film of negative A and a retardation film of negative C positioned between the first and second polarizing plates; and a liquid crystal layer which includes liquid crystal molecules, aligned to be nearly parallel or substantially vertical to the absorption axis of the first polarizing plate, and wherein the liquid crystal molecules are rotated in an in-plane direction of the liquid crystal layer, by applying an electric field in the lateral direction of the liquid crystal layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
