<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing belt which is used for a fixing apparatus, having a self temperature control function, whose durability is improved, and which has a magnetic shunt alloy layer. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fixing belt 51 is used for the induction heating type fixing apparatus and is equipped with the magnetic shunt alloy layer 513, which shows ferromagnetism to generate heat, when temperature is under the Curie point, and loses magnetism to lower the calorific value, when the temperature is equal to or above the Curie point, and an elastic layer 512. The thickness of each of the layers is adjusted so that a neutral surface which is not tensioned and compressed exists within the elastic layer 512, when the belt moves in circulation.
