An improved design of a manual floor cleaning machine has several cleaning elements, e.g. brushes, cleaning pad holders etc., spaced around a central opening into which is loosely positioned an applicator (17) for cleaning agents, polishes etc. The cleaning agents, coating agents etc. are applied directly to the floor and are swept by the cleaning elements. The central opening has a tapering profile narrowing towards the floor and is provided with suction ducts to the peripheral cleaning elements, to remove surplus cleaning agents.
